Alice Ayres

Alice AyresAlice Ayres attended the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration and upon graduating, took a position as a social caseworker with United Charites (now Metropolitan Family Services). From her beginnings as a caseworker, Ayres held many positions with UCC and in the community, including District Director of the Humboldt office, Director of Personnel for UCC and Director of the Family Service Bureau, as well as a member of the Advisory Committee that developed the desegregation plan for the Chicago School System. Because of her work at United Charities and in the community, Alice Ayres was selected as Chicago Social Worker of the year in 1975.
